PVT Charles M. Wilkinson, 36, U.S. Army, born February 4, 1908, was killed in action on December 24, 1944. Wilkinson with 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division in WWII. During the Battle of the Bulge, he was part of a large assault to drive the Germans back across the Sauer River. While on a mission to retake Bergdorf, they encountered heavy resistance. Wilkinson did not survive the firefight, but his efforts helped his Company successfully capture their objective. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
