In Memory OfPTR3 Leon O. Short

PTR3 Leon O. Short, 75, U.S. Navy, born July 26, 1921, passed away on December 24, 1996. Short was a Photographic Technician aboard the USS Birmingham (CL-62) in the Pacific during WWII. Aboard the light cruiser, he documented ship operations and combat damage, processed and developed film, and maintained cameras critical to mission planning during some of the war’s most pivotal battles. Short was a dedicated man with a gift for motivating others to become better sailors than they ever dreamed possible. Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate! Til Valhalla, Brother!
