PO3 & MSG William G. Hughes, 80, U.S. Navy, Connecticut Army National Guard,
born in Connecticut November 2, 1942, passed away on June 27, 2023. During the
Vietnam War, Hughes was a Boatswain's Mate, overseeing maintenance operations
aboard the USS Leahy (DLG-16). He then began a near 30-year career in the
National Guard serving with the 102nd Infantry Regiment until his discharge in
1996. Hughes was a kind man with a heart of gold. He could usually be found
gardening, cooking up a storm, or relaxing by his pool. Rest easy, Soldier! Til
