PO3 Marcus E. Cline, 21, U.S. Navy, born in Louisiana January 4, 1947, passed
away in a non-hostile incident on June 24, 1968. Cline served as a Gunner's Mate
with River Assault Squadron 5, Task Force 116 in Vietnam. While on a nighttime
reconnaissance mission on the Mỹ Tho River, his Patrol Boat, River collided with a
U.S. Light Salvage Lift Craft. Cline fell overboard after hitting his head and
drowned. For his service, he was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart and the
Bronze Star with "V" device. Fair winds and following seas, Hero! Til Valhalla,
