PFC William J. Jobes, 20, U.S. Army, born June 3, 1924, was declared KIA on July 23, 1944. Jobes was an Infantryman with 320th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division in WWII. During the Normandy invasion, his unit stormed Omaha Beach in one of the most brutal battles in history. As he advanced to reinforce the first wave, he was killed by enemy fire. Due to the massive number of casualties, Jobes was declared MIA for over a month until he was finally identified on July 23, 1944. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Rest easy, Hero!
