PFC Rueben J. Lopez, 27, U.S. Army, born in California May 9, 1984, was killed in action on August 11, 2011. Lopez served as an Infantryman with 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, and deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom. While on patrol in the notoriously dangerous region of Nalgham, his vehicle was struck by an IED. Lopez and four of his brothers-in-arms did not survive the blast. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and has a memorial scholarship in his name. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
