In Memory OfPFC Robert D. Morehead

PFC Robert D. Morehead, 19, U.S. Army, born September 20, 1924, was killed in action on May 26, 1944. In WWII, Morehead served with the 135th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division in Italy. During the Volturno Campaign, he was wounded by shrapnel across his body. After a short time in the hospital, he returned to his Company to help drive the Germans back toward Rome. During fierce combat that had turned to hand-to-hand fighting, Morehead was struck by enemy fire and fell. For his service, he earned two Purple Hearts. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
