PFC Mark A. Barbret, 22, U.S. Army, born in Michigan November 6, 1981, was killed
in action on October 14, 2004. Barbret was a Track Vehicle Mechanic with 44th
Engineer Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, and deployed for Operation Iraqi
Freedom, ensuring his unit's vehicles were always mission-ready. While riding in a
convoy in Ramadi, an IED was detonated right as his Humvee drove by. Barbret and
one of his brothers-in-arms did not survive the explosion. For his service, he
earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
