In Memory OfPFC Joseph W. Lanski

PFC Joseph W. Lanski, 18, U.S.M.C., born August 19, 1947, was killed in action on December 5, 1965. In the Vietnam War, Lanski was a Rifleman with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. During Operation Dagger Thrust V, he was part of a special landing force and was sent to conduct an amphibious raid on an NVA-controlled village in Thừa Thiên. As soon as they landed, a brutal firefight erupted, and Lanski passed away after being hit by enemy small arms fire. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Semper Fi, Marine!
