PFC Jeffrey A. Avery, 19, U.S. Army, born in California June 21, 1987, was killed in
action on April 23, 2007. Following in the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather, Avery served in the Army. He was an MP with 571st Military
Police Company and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Avery was
inspecting a vehicle at a checkpoint in Muqudadiyah when it exploded. He was
mortally wounded in the blast. For his service, Avery earned a Purple Heart and
the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
