PFC Emelio Perea, 25, U.S. Army, born in Kansas September 15, 1923, passed away in a car accident on May 16, 1949. During WWII, Perea was a Paratrooper with 1st Battalion, 515th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 13th Airborne Division at Fort Benning. While his unit was never deployed overseas, their training methods contributed to U.S. airborne tactics, which are still used today. After the war, he passed away when he was hit by a speeding car after pushing his wife and daughter out of the way. For his service, Perea earned a Purple Heart. Rest easy, Hero!
