PFC Ellsworth Swann, 22, U.S. Army, born August 26, 1945, was killed in action on
December 14, 1967. Swann served as an Infantryman with 3rd Battalion, 22nd
Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division in the Vietnam War. While participating in
Operation Yellowstone, his unit was conducting a patrol north of Saigon when they
engaged enemy forces. During the firefight, Swann and two of his brothers-inarms
were struck by shrapnel and small arms fire and fell on the battlefield. For his
service, he earned a Purple Heart. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
