In Memory OfPFC Elliott R. Smith

PFC Elliott R. Smith, 19, U.S.M.C., born December 10, 1948, was killed in action on March 18, 1968. Smith was a Mortarman with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment in Vietnam. In Quảng Trị, his unit was tasked with eliminating enemy threats to a critical U.S. supply base on the Cửa Việt River. While patrolling a small village, they were ambushed by entrenched NVA troops. His company fought valiantly and won the day, but when the smoke cleared, Smith and twelve fellow Marines had died. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Semper Fi, Marine! Til Valhalla, Brother!
