PFC Billy G. McCombs, 92, U.S. Army, born August 18, 1921, passed away on May 4, 2014. McCombs served with 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division in WWII. While attempting to capture the city of Nancy, France, his company was cut off from his battalion, and he was captured and sent to Stalag VII-A. McCombs' strength saw him through eight months of brutal conditions until April 29, 1945, when the 14th Armored Division liberated the camp. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the POW Medal. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
