In Memory OfPFC Andrew N. Meari

PFC Andrew N. Meari, 21, U.S. Army, born September 14, 1989, was killed in action on November 1, 2010. Meari was an Infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan. While on guard duty at the gate of Combat Outpost Senjaray, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle sped toward him. Meari quickly engaged the man and stopped him from entering the base before he detonated the explosive. Though he did not survive the blast, his selfless actions saved countless lives. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
