PFC & A1C Walter J. Boehm, 93, U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, born June 24, 1924, passed away from health complications on September 22, 2017. A WWII Army rifleman with Company E, 136th Infantry, Boehm later served as an Air Force air policeman in the Korean War. He fought across Luzon and the Southern Philippines and into occupied Japan, earning the Combat Infantryman Badge. A Texas farm boy who later worked the railroads, he raised his family in Amarillo. For his service, Boehm received the Bronze Star Medal, awarded 70 years late in 2016. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
