In Memory OfOfc John R. Sowa

Ofc John R. Sowa, 28, Atlanta Police Department (APD), born July 22, 1969, died in the line of duty on October 12, 1997. Sowa was a Patrolman for three years with the APD in the city's dangerous northern Zone 2. He quickly became known for his calming demeanor and tactical approach to volatile situations. This mindset made him the type of man his fellow Officers were honored to have as a partner. In his honor, the Gold Shield Foundation was established to assist families of critically injured and fallen first responders. Rest easy; We have the watch now! Til Valhalla, Brother!
