MoMM2 Michael H. Andalora, U.S. Navy, born March 27, 1924, was lost at sea on June 9, 1944. During WWII, Andalora served as a Motor Machinistâs Mate on USS LST-376. After the initial assault on Omaha Beach, he helped deliver Sherman tanks and supplies critical to the Allied advance. While returning to England to resupply, the ship was torpedoed by a German S-boat and sank to the bottom of the English Channel. Andalora and 43 of his shipmates were never seen again. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Fair winds and following seas, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
