In Memory OfMM2 Gregory D. Brown

January 23, 1948 - October 18, 2013

MM2 Gregory D. Brown, 65, U.S. Navy, born in Indiana January 23, 1948, passed away from cancer on October 18, 2013. During the Vietnam War, Brown was a Machinist Mate aboard the USS George Washington (SSBN-598). There, he maintained the submarine's mechanical systems as they conducted patrols in the Atlantic, ensuring our retaliation capabilities in the event of a Soviet nuclear attack. Fondly remembered as "Pops," he was known for his big heart, welcoming nature, and fierce loyalty to others. Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate! Til Valhalla, Brother!
