Maj Philip D. Ambard, 44, U.S. Air Force, born in Venezuela April 4, 1967, was killed in action on April 27, 2011. Ambard was an Air Advisor with 460th Space Communications Squadron for Operation Enduring Freedom. He worked with the NATO Air Training Command, training local cadets how to face future obstacles. While in a meeting with other advisors, Ambard passed away when an Afghan helicopter pilot, believed to be friendly, barged into the conference and shot him and eight others. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Fly high, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
