LTJG Michael A. Encinas, 34, U.S. Navy, born October 20, 1976, lost the battle within on May 10, 2011. Encinas served as a Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical) aboard the USS Shiloh (CG-67) and USS Cushing (DD-985). During Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was tasked with maintaining the ships' propulsion systems, ensuring they were mission-ready to provide Naval support for U.S. troops. Encinas is remembered as a well-traveled and generous man who never failed to put a smile on a person's face. Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate! Til Valhalla, Brother!
