In Memory OfLt Col Forrest V. Poore

Lt Col Forrest V. Poore, 83, U.S. Army Air Corps, born June 29, 1916, passed away on October 6, 1999. Poore was a B-17 Pilot with 551st Bomb Squadron, 385th Bomb Group in WWII. While returning from a successful bombing mission, they were shot down by a swarm of German Messerschmitts. Poore survived the crash but was captured and interned until the end of the war. Despite spending 18 months as a POW, he continued to serve our country until retiring in 1962. For his service, Poore earned a Purple Heart and the Prisoner of War Medal. Fly high, Hero!
