Lieutenant William L. Powell, 50, Gordonsville Fire Company, born in Virginia December 5, 1967, passed away from cancer on December 13, 2017. Powell served with the Orange County Rescue Squad and the Gordonsville Fire Company, protecting the people in his community for 20 years. In addition to his firefighting duties, he was also a National Registry Paramedic with Wintergreen F.D. and a Communications Officer for Orange County 911 Dispatch. For his service, Powell was named "Fireman of the Year" in 2016.
