In Memory OfLCpl Don T. Shearer

LCpl Don T. Shearer, 19, U.S.M.C., born June 9, 1949, was killed in action on July 4, 1968. Shearer was a Rifleman with 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines in Vietnam. During a mission in Quảng Trị, his unit was attacked by NVA forces. Without hesitation, he moved to an exposed position and provided cover fire, allowing his men to advance until he was hit by enemy small arms. Though he did not survive, his sacrifice led to a crushing victory over the NVA. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with a "V" device. Semper Fi, Marine!
