In Memory OfLCpl Charles S. Sharp

LCpl Charles S. Sharp, 20, U.S.M.C., born in Georgia November 15, 1988, was killed in action on July 2, 2009. Sharp served as a Machine Gunner with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division and deployed to Afghanistan. During Operation Strike of the Sword, his unit was sent to help drive the Taliban out of the Helmand Province. While fighting alongside British forces against a large group of Insurgents in Garmsir, Sharp passed away when he was struck by a sniper. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Semper Fi, Marine!
