LCpl Matthew D. Johnson, 31, U.S.M.C., born April 3, 1992, lost the battle within on January 28, 2024. Johnson served as an AV-8B Aircraft Fixed-Wing Mechanic and was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. There, he was tasked with ensuring the Harrier II aircraft on base were always flight-worthy. Johnson enjoyed being outdoors and could usually be found fishing or spending time in the ocean. He is remembered as a compassionate man who was willing to lend a hand to someone who was down on their
