In Memory OfHM2 Ernest E. Sanville

HM2 Ernest E. Sanville, 24, U.S. Navy, born November 14, 1943, was killed in action on August 31, 1968. Sanville served as a Hospital Corpsman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division in the Vietnam War. When one of the men in his unit fell ill, he volunteered to take his place on a night patrol. While trekking through the Quảng Nam jungle, he passed away in an explosion when the man in front of him stepped on a landmine. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart.
