HM3 Andrew A. Alderman, 22, U.S. Navy, born in Kansas May 12, 1944, was killed in action on March 17, 1967. Alderman was a Hospital Corpsman attached to 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division at Khe Sanh Combat Base in Vietnam. While on a night patrol in Quang Tri, his unit was ambushed by NVA forces. During the fight, he passed away when he was hit by enemy shrapnel. When the battle was over, Alderman and 18 brothers-in-arms had fallen. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Fair winds and following seas, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
