GSMC Matthew P. Spitsnaugle, 40, U.S. Navy, born May 1, 1979, passed away in a motorcycle accident on November 6, 2019. Spitsnaugle was a Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical) on the USS Shiloh (CG-67), USS Mobile Bay (CG-53), and USS O'Brien (DD-975). While at sea, he maintained various propulsion and power systems, ensuring the ship was always ready for conflict. Spitsnaugle is remembered for his great sense of humor, devotion to our country, and a type of leadership that guided his crew to success. Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate!
