In Memory OfGMG3 Herman A. Miller II

June 17, 1948 - August 11, 1968

GMG3 Herman A. Miller II, 20, U.S. Navy, born June 17, 1948, was killed in action on August 11, 1968. Miller was a Gunner's Mate with Inshore Undersea Warfare Group One in Vietnam. While on a harbor defense mission in Quy Nhơn, a sampan disguised as a fishing boat approached, and his patrol boat moved to intercept. As his crew began boarding the vessel, a group of VC sprang out and opened fire, taking the lives of Miller and his crew. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with "V" device. Fair winds and following seas, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
