GMCS Stanley M. Ryley Jr., 60, U.S. Navy, born in California January 10, 1940, passed away from Agent Orange-related health complications on July 13, 2000. In Vietnam, Ryley was a Gunner's Mate and an EOD diver with Underwater Demo Team 13. He made a name for himself when, on a mission to take out an enemy stronghold, he led a team through a minefield and took out three guards, allowing a VC complex to be captured. For his service, he earned two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star with "V" device. Fair winds and following seas, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
