EM1 William O. Flowers Jr., 100, U.S. Navy, born July 12, 1923, passed away on September 23, 2023. Flowers was an Electrician's Mate on the ammunition ship USS Mauna Loa (AE-8) in WWII. He deployed to the Pacific and maintained the vessel's power, cargo handling, and safety systems as they resupplied our ships with munitions. Flowers enjoyed fishing, watching LSU sports teams, and telling stories. He is remembered as a patriotic man of faith who would go out of his way to help someone in need.
