Deputy Sheriff Greg A. McCowan, 43, Blount County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), born September 26, 1980, died in the line of duty on February 8, 2024. After years as a Reserve Deputy, McCowan was hired by the BCSO, where he was a Patrolman, an EMR, and a member of the Crisis Negotiations Team. He was a man who went above and beyond the call of duty and earned a "Lifesaving Award" for rescuing a man who was trapped in a burning car. For his service, McCowan was honored with the ""Three Stars of Tennessee Award."" Rest easy; We have the watch now! Til Valhalla, Brother!
