CW3 & Ofc Kirk K. Newman, 64, U.S. Army, New Lothrop P.D., born in Michigan October 1, 1957, passed away from a heart attack on August 2, 2022. Newman served with 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and led covert operations in Central America with the DEA and Military Intelligence. After the Army, he had a career in law enforcement, serving with departments all over Michigan, and was "Officer of the Year" in 2010. Newman earned the Soldier's Medal, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, and a Bronze Star with "V" device. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
