In Memory OfCPT James E. Reed

December 4, 1942 - February 1, 1968

CPT James E. Reed, 25, U.S. Army, born December 4, 1942, was killed in action on February 1, 1968. Reed was an Infantry Company Commander with 3rd Battalion, 39th Infantry Regiment in Vietnam. While stationed at Fort Courage, his base came under attack. Reed quickly climbed atop a bunker turret and directed counter-battery fire on the attacking VC. He continued to relay enemy positions from his exposed vantage point until he was mortally wounded. For his service, he earned numerous prestigious decorations, including the Silver Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
