CPL Earl W. Duncan, 23, U.S. Army, born November 2, 1927, Killed in Action (KIA) on December 2, 1950. Duncan served with Dog Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He held the line east of the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War, a desperate fight. Earl was a Gaston County boy, never married, and his family waited 69 years for his return. For his service, he was awarded the Purple Heart and a rosette marks his name at Punchbowl. Rest easy, Soldier! Til Valhalla, Brother!
