Captain Vincent E. Brunton, 43, FDNY Ladder Company 105, born January 2, 1958, was killed in the line of duty on September 11, 2001. A Brooklyn native known as "Vinnie," he rose through the ranks over 16 years, from firefighter to lieutenant to captain, all with Ladder 105. In 1992, he was awarded a medal for saving a disabled woman from a fire, and his dedication to training earned him a place on a Fire Academy pillar. A quiet man who ran daily and rarely had an unkind word for anyone, he followed his brother Michael into the FDNY. Rest easy; We have the watch now! Til Valhalla, Brother!
