Capt Richard D. Moore, 28, U.S. Air Force, born January 11, 1922, was declared missing in action on December 9, 1950. Moore was a F-80C Shooting Star Pilot with the 8th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 49th Fighter-Bomber Group in the Korean War. While on a mission to bomb an enemy bridge, his jet destabilized when a wing tank detached, causing it to nosedive behind enemy lines. Due to where he crashed, no search mission was possible and Moore was never seen again. For his service, he earned the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Silver Star. Fly high, Hero!
