In Memory OfCapt Charles T. Hafendorfer

Capt Charles T. Hafendorfer, 25, U.S. Air Force, born January 12, 1941, passed away in a plane crash May 19, 1966. Hafendorfer was a KC-135A Stratotanker Navigator with 919th Refueling Squadron, 4252nd Strategic Wing. While on a high-priority transport mission to deliver a J57 jet engine to Yokota Air Base, the overloaded aircraft lost lift and struggled to get off the ground. The excess weight caused the Stratotanker to stall and crash just 15 seconds after take-off. Hafendorfer and his entire crew lost their lives in the accident. Fly high, Airman! Til Valhalla, Brother!
