In Memory OfBattalion Chief Russell J. Johnson

Battalion Chief Russell J. Johnson, 64, Decatur Fire & Rescue, born March 23, 1959, passed away from surgery complications on January 12, 2024. Over 44 years in the fire service, Johnson rose to Battalion Chief and, in retirement, kept serving on the board of Mud Tavern Volunteer Fire & Rescue. A wise man remembered as a teacher, he guided generations of firefighters who carry the job because he showed them how. He is survived by his wife, Janice, their three children, and three grandchildren. Rest easy; We have the watch now! Til Valhalla, Brother!
