In Memory OfAO3 Louis P. Sandillo

AO3 Louis P. Sandillo, 65, U.S. Navy, born August 18, 1950, passed away in a motorcycle accident on January 8, 2016. Sandillo was an Aviation Ordnanceman with Fighter Squadron 111 aboard the USS Coral Sea (CV-43) in Vietnam. While conducting a pre-flight inspection of an A-7 fighter, he noticed parachute flares had fallen from the aircraft. Sandillo selflessly ran through the jet's fiery exhaust and was able to throw the flares off the ship, protecting countless lives from a disastrous deck fire. Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate! Til Valhalla, Brother!
