A1C Robert L. Westfall, 23, U.S. Air Force, born in Pennsylvania June 22, 1938, was killed in action on February 11, 1962. Westfall was an Air Crewmember with 1st Air Commando Squadron, 314th Air Division, 13th Air Force in Vietnam. While on a mission to drop leaflets over Central Vietnam with a New Year's message from JFK, enemy troops opened fire on the low-flying C-47. The aircraft sustained critical damage and crashed into a mountain, killing Westfall and his entire crew. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Fly High, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
