A1C Eric M. Barnes, 20, U.S. Air Force, born in Ohio July 30, 1986, was killed in action on June 10, 2007. Barnes served as a Motor Vehicle Operator with 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron and deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While driving the lead vehicle of a convoy south of Baghdad, his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb. Barnes did not survive the blast. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and has a street named in his honor at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming. Fly high, Airman! Til Valhalla, Brother!
