In Memory Of1LT Frederick W. Jones

1LT Frederick W. Jones, 23, U.S. Army Air Corps, born August 19, 1921, was killed in action on February 16, 1945. Jones served as a B-17 Bomber Pilot with 463rd Bombardment Group (Heavy), 772nd Bombardment Squadron, and deployed to the European Theater during WWII. While en route to Bolzano, his aircraft, Dixie Queen, encountered poor weather conditions and collided with another bomber, crashing into the Adriatic Sea. Jones and nine of his crew members perished in the crash. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Fly high, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
