1LT Frank L. Hoch, 88, U.S. Army Air Corps, born July 3, 1923, passed away on November 12, 2011. Hoch was a B-24 Pilot with 464th Bomb Group, 778th Bomb Squadron, 15th Air Force in WWII. While on a mission to bomb Munich, his aircraft encountered heavy flak and crash-landed. Hoch was quickly captured and sent to the Wauwilermoos internment camp. Two months later, Hoch and a fellow airman escaped. After six grueling days on the run, they made it back to friendly territory. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Fly high, Hero!
