Medal of Honor Day: Recognizing Extraordinary Valor

A Day to Honor the Bravest Among Us

March 25th is Medal of Honor Day, a solemn reminder of the extraordinary bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of those who have gone above and beyond in service to our nation. The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration awarded by the United States, reserved for those whose selfless actions embody the true spirit of courage and Heroism.

Since the award was first introduced during the Civil War, more than 3,500 service members have received this prestigious Honor. These Heroes didn’t act for recognition or reward; they put themselves in harm’s way, risking everything to protect their fellow brothers and sisters in arms. Today, we pause to reflect on their sacrifice and ensure their stories live on.

The Legacy of the Medal of Honor

The Medal of Honor represents a lifetime of service and sacrifice. It is given to those who have shown incredible bravery, even in situations where it seemed impossible to survive.

Each recipient has a unique story, but all share a common thread: unshakable bravery in the face of overwhelming odds. From storming enemy positions to shielding fellow service members from harm, Medal of Honor recipients define what it means to serve with Honor and selflessness.

Today, many living recipients continue their mission beyond the battlefield, dedicating their lives to mentorship, advocacy, and service to fellow Veterans. Their impact stretches far beyond their time in uniform, proving that the heart of a Hero beats long after the battle is over.

Why We Must Never Forget

At Til Valhalla Project, our mission is to ensure no Fallen Hero is ever forgotten. Medal of Honor Day is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do-because the sacrifices of our Heroes deserve more than a moment of remembrance; they deserve a lifetime of gratitude.

By sharing their stories, learning their names, and teaching future generations about their sacrifices, we help preserve their legacies. Today is not just about keeping these acts of valor alive in our hearts and actions.

How You Can Observe Medal of Honor Day

  • Learn Their Stories: Take time to read about Medal of Honor recipients and the incredible acts of bravery that earned them this distinction.

  • Visit a Memorial: If possible, visit a national cemetery or military museum to pay your respects.

  • Reach Out to Veterans: Medal of Honor Day is also a chance to show appreciation for all who have served. A simple “thank you” can mean more than you know.

  • Support the Mission: Continue to share the stories of our Heroes and make sure their sacrifices are never forgotten.

Today, we honor the bravest among us—those who placed duty, country, and their fellow service members above all else. May we never forget their sacrifices, and may their courage continue to inspire us all.
