Celebrating the Coast Guard's Birthday: Honoring Our Maritime Heroes

Honoring 234 Years of Service and Sacrifice

The United States Coast Guard has been protecting our shores and saving lives since August 4, 1790. This remarkable institution, which turns 234 years old this year, stands as a testament to the courage, dedication, and relentless commitment of its members. As we celebrate the Coast Guard's birthday, we take a moment to reflect on the incredible contributions of these maritime Heroes and their unwavering service to our nation.

Stories of Valor and Commitment

The Coast Guard's history is rich with stories of valor, from daring rescues in treacherous seas to critical security operations that safeguard our nation's ports and waterways. Their mission is multifaceted, involving search and rescue, environmental protection, and national defense. Each member of the Coast Guard embodies the spirit of service, often putting their lives on the line to ensure our safety and security.

One such Hero is Petty Officer Charles Jackson French, who, during World War II, swam for hours towing a life raft full of injured shipmates through shark-infested waters to safety. Stories like his remind us of the extraordinary bravery and selflessness exhibited by Coast Guard members throughout history.
