      Russell Lark Mutschler, the eldest son of Lewis and Margaret Mutschler from Elk Grove, California, was born prematurely on April 28th, 1967, weighing only 2lbs 12oz. However, he proved to be a fighter and was released from the hospital at seven weeks old. Russell passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 12th, 2018, at 51 years of age.

      Russell attended Valley View Elementary School, John Muir Middle School, Pioneer High School, Valley Christian High School and was a 1985 graduate of Elk Grove High in Elk Grove, California. He joined the United States Army at 19 years old, where he served as a Medic from 1986-1989, stationed at Schweinfurt, Germany. He was honorably discharged and continued to be active in the Veteran community, where he cooked for veterans, donated clothing, followed his heart, he helped as many people as possible.

      He began working in ironwork and sheet metal after being inspired by his father and grandfather, continuing the family tradition. Most recently, he was working temporarily at a Circle K while attending school in Albuquerque to attain a degree in Nursing. He wanted to be a nurse and pursued that goal for many years. He never gave up on his dream, no matter the struggles. He was very active in his church and belonged to the Christian Motorcycle Association in Escondido, CA. He enjoyed woodworking, riding his motorcycle, reading, and spending time with family and friends. He was a well-liked member of the student body, where he worked in study groups. He was always caring and generous and went out of his way to help anyone who needed it.
