SGT Michael L. Boatright, 24, U.S. Army, born in Texas February 21, 1980, was killed in action on December 4, 2004. Boatright served as a Combat Engineer with 20th Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, and deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While conducting a combat operation in Baghdad in an area believed to be cleared of IEDs, he passed away when a roadside bomb was detonated as they were returning to their vehicles. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Soldier! Til Valhalla, Brother!
