PFC Caleb A. Lufkin, 24, U.S. Army, born in Illinois December 9, 1981, passed away from combat-related injuries on May 25, 2006. Lufkin served as a Combat Engineer with 5th Engineer Battalion and deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While conducting combat operations in Baghdad, his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb. Lufkin was severely wounded in the blast and passed away from his injuries at Walter Reed three weeks later. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
